The Virgin London Marathon is the largest one-day fundraising event in the world, and one of the toughest running challenges in terms of endurance. The thought of running 26.2 miles would strike fear in the most athletic amongst us, but not for our General Manager, Tammy Studholme who ran the distance on Sunday (26th April 2015) in support of national children’s charity, NSPCC.
Colleagues, family and friends went along to support Tammy and encourage her all the way, and the NSPCC also had cheer points along the route which was a real lift. Those that did travel down to support Tammy commented that the atmosphere was electric with both nerves and excitement and the support generated by the general public at the event was amazing; giving people a much needed boost.
Tammy commented:It was great to see everyone there supporting me as it was an extremely difficult day. Under normal circumstances the marathon is somewhat challenging, but on the day of the event it was really tough. Every part of me hurts at the moment, but I would like to do it again next year. I must be crazy!!!
Tammy completed the marathon in 5 hours and 38 minutes. Donations are still coming in via www.justgiving.com/dci and she hopes to raise a total of £10,000 for the NSPCC.
